On October 8th, 2025, Colorado Springs teachers went on strike for the first time since 1975. Educators, students, parents, and community members gathered in the thousands across every school in District 11 to protest the ongoing erosion of support for educators.

Early in the morning, participants gathered to pick up signs made by the community, listen to animated speeches from CSEA members and leadership, and march together for better classroom conditions. A spirited, passionate energy permeated each strike location. After picketing, participants canvassed throughout Colorado Springs to bring attention to upcoming board elections and share a vision for schools that puts students first.

The day concluded with a gathering at Acacia park. The park was filled with live music, laughter, stories, and impassioned speeches. The event proved to be historic, demonstrating the resolve and strength of Colorado Springs teachers in our objective to create the best possible learning conditions for students.
